After 67 years of front-engine performance and maximizing that great Corvette powertrain, GM finally freaking did it. Zora Arkus-Duntov, widely considered to be the father of the Corvette, desired the Corvettes to be mid-engined clear back in the mid-60s when the Lamborghini Miura spawned into existence, creating a layout for supercars to follow. Prototypes like Aerovette, CERV II, CERV III, and others paved the way for this car to wake up the Europeans and once again show that Americans know a thing or two about performance cars.
It is quite possible that this car, brand-new, once sold for up to $50K OVER MSRP to someone. COVID stopped Bowling Green production multiple times, part shortages saw many car allocations stripped. Many 2020 cars waited a long time before getting their high-wing spoilers and various extra goodies. If someone ever paid $132K for this car to have it before everyone else, isn't it wonderful that it wasn't you?
This particular example comes with a striking color combination--Arctic White over Morello Red. Just about everything you can see in the interior is a dark tone of red. The engine appearance package is a great factory option showing off the engine layout. It's quite an interesting thing to expect the car to start and hear noise BEHIND you, not in front of you. Great features include the performance data recorder for trips up to Willow Springs Raceway, or maybe it can double as a dashcam for insurance purposes. GT2 bucket seats are wonderfully bolstered, and are power adjustable. 14 speakers bathe you in Beethoven or Billy Joel. Whatever your flavor, it's clear, crisp, and a considerable upgrade from previous generation Corvette audio.
